About Us

Putting Experience into Action

What happens when you don't know where to turn?  Our experienced Advocates understand you, because they've been there.  And now we will be there for you.  If you or a loved one has been affected by sexual assault while serving in the military, or were assaulted by someone in the military, give us a call.  Through our Legal Assistance and Empowerment Protocols, we fight to disrupt the cultural stigma surrounding sexual assault.

What we do

Process Trauma Through the Body and the Mind

Process Trauma Through the Body and the Mind

Process Trauma Through the Body and the Mind

As we process trauma through the mind, we have to process it through the body.  Whether we’ve been in a vehicle accident, lost a loved one, or anything in between, our body keeps the score.  Our nervous system is wired like branches of tree.  And when we experience a traumatic event, those branches get pruned.  But those branches can regrow, and that’s what we focus on

Legal Services with a Wholistic Approach

Process Trauma Through the Body and the Mind

Every client is different and has their own unique needs.  After listening to your concerns, we develop a plan of action that best suits you.  Some clients prefer more aggressive plans, whereas others would like to remain anonymous.  We understand you and respect your privacy.  Our job is to arm you with information so that you can make the best choice for your situation.

Let Us Train You

Community Outreach

Education is key to disrupting the stigma of sexual assault.  We train the military, Attorneys, Law Enforcement, students, and various other agencies to guide them into culturally competent strategies to respond, react, and prevent sexual violence.

Community Outreach

Building the bench is absolutely critical if we want to succeed.  And we want to partner with you.  Let us know how we can make your community more effective in their response to sexual violence.  We would love to hear your success stories as well so we can continue to thrive and build best practices.  We need each other if we hope to make an impact.

Empowerment Protocol

We are partnered with the Sanford Yoga & Community Center to bring you a number of holistic healing modalities.

The nervous system plays a crucial role in how we respond to stress, process emotions, and maintain overall well-being.  Our protocol is designed to empower you with knowledge and tools to recalibrate your nervous system, leading to a more relaxed and centered state of being.

About our LEadership

Lindsey Knapp, Esq.

Executive Director

Lindsey is our resident pit bull and is ready to help.

Her goal is to empower survivors of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) by helping them overcome barriers to obtaining justice.  As an Attorney, Army Veteran, Chair of the Military & Veterans Women’s Coalition, and survivor of sexual assault and domestic violence, Lindsey brings more than 20 years of professional experience to this field.

She began her career at Northern Illinois University, where she was responsible for training more than 20,000 incoming Freshmen every year on the risks of sexual assault, and the resources available to them.

From there, she joined the military where she advocated of Active Duty Service Members after they experienced sexual violence. Her progress in the military laid the groundwork for what was later formally established into the Army’s Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Program.

After leaving service and getting her law degree from North Carolina Central University, she continued her work in the civilian sector advocating for victims of sexual violence on Fort Liberty.

But after discovering that the military was systematically covering up rape, she formed Combat Sexual Assault so that she could provide legal counsel to those who were being retaliated against for reporting.

At Combat Sexual Assault, Lindsey addresses these issues, all while helping her clients find their voice.
