A Message from Our Executive Director

The Fight for Our Military Members Needs You

Over the past few years, we have witnessed devastating rollbacks in protections and support for military members impacted by sexual assault, discrimination, and trauma.

Under the Trump administration, critical DEI programs, sexual assault response training, and trans rights to serve have been stripped away, leaving those who serve our country more vulnerable than ever.

At Combat Sexual Assault, we have seen an unprecedented influx of military members seeking our help—but the demand has exceeded our current resources.  We are at a crisis point, and we need your support to continue this fight.

How You Can Help:

🔹 Donate: Every dollar goes directly toward providing support, resources, and advocacy for those who need it most.

🔹 Spread Awareness: Share our resources with your community, on social media, or with those in need.

🔹 Host a Fundraiser: Bring people together in your local community to raise funds and awareness for this critical work.

🔹 Invite Us to Speak: Through Operation Take Up Space, we are traveling to communities to motivate and mobilize people to stay engaged in this fight. Let’s work together to keep up the momentum.

Now more than ever, we must take up space—for those who have been silenced, for those who have been left behind, and for the future of a military that protects all who serve.

Will you stand with us?

Join the fight today.

With Unwavering Commitment,
Lindsey Knapp, Esq.
Executive Director, Combat Sexual Assault

collaboration is key

When Trump pulls out the backstops that support our community, we create more ourselves. This means partnering with local and national assets to help keep the momentum going.

We are in this for the long haul, and will not waiver.

What happened to Denisha?

  • Denisha was found dead on August 9, 2022 in Germany. That same day, the military reached out to the family and told them that Denisha killed herself. On July 19, 2022, twenty-one days earlier, Denisha called her family and stated that she had been beaten very badly and strangled by other Military Police Officers. After this attempted murder, she asked that her family record the video call, and her injuries were visible on the recording. She indicated that she feared for her life and was scared.
  • Her parents then called the Red Cross and put in an urgent message because they feared for their daughter’s life. Twenty-one days later, she was found dead.  She reported the assault to her chain of command immediately after it occurred, but they did not investigate. Denisha messaged her family and told them that she was just trying to keep her head down until she returned home. She even packed her bags and sent pictures of her packed bags to her family.
  • We have provided this evidence to the military indicating that Denisha did not take her own life. Despite this, they seem to only want to know what Denisha’s mental health was like at the time of her death. We do not believe that they are taking her death seriously and treating her life as if it were forfeit.
  • Consequently, we are asking that the FBI to take over this case so that this investigation is not compromised further.

Rolling Stone Reports

She Asked the Army to Investigate a Rape Trial. They Fired Her

Our Executive Director used to work for Special Operations Command.  And when she reported that Delta Force was covering up rape, she was fired.

But that didn't stop her.  She founded Combat Sexual Assault to help address these systemic issues.

We took on Delta Force, so you can be sure that we can take on whatever action that you are facing.

Victim Advocates speak out

PBS reports that the military needs to remove the chain of command from deciding the fate of those accused of sexual assault in the military.  We agree.  Listen to what our Advocates are saying.
